To get somewhere, we must leave something behind. It’s Newton’s third law.
The partial lunar eclipse on September 17 is the first of two eclipses for the eclipse season of Autumn 2024. The eclipse season itself is the prelude to the main astrological event and level-up this year – Saturn square Jupiter Part II in December.
This is a very action-oriented and chaotic eclipse, with lots of squares and oppositions, but the energy is lowwwww.
It’s the first eclipse on the Virgo-Pisces axis although the true Nodes are still in Aries-Libra. That’s why it’s only a partial eclipse.
The significations of the eclipse axis and the coincident aspects are in concert.
We are clearing up the debris of the past and setting up the ground (Virgo) for moving forward towards the dream and watering the fresh shoots that should be coming out of the ground when Saturn squares Jupiter for the third time in mid-2025.
The squares and oppositions of this eclipse are going to loosen whatever screws are still in place after the tumult and tribulations of Mercury-Uranus station last month.
Old patterns of thought, emotion, relation and behavior have to go to make room for the new and authentic. Those are often patterns that are the only normal we have known all life long, and only now we might realize that they do not serve us.
Because they are trauma responses.
Because they are coping mechanisms.
Because they are structures of self-imprisonment in what seems comfortable only because it is familiar (but in reality it is toxic and unauthentic to who we really are).
Return to self and to ideal manifest.
That’s the grand work of Saturn’s transit through Pisces, one of his favorite signs.
Saturn is exposing and impressing the gaps between our ideal self and ideal life on one hand, and actual experience and manifestation on the other – so we may fill it.
Saturn in Pisces is also enabling because we feel his restrictive energy much less in the most flexible and most potential of both Water and Mutable signs. The big rock is stirring the waters all around but not in a way that could ever corner them.
Saturn square Jupiter, considered a maturation aspect since time immemorial, is only adding to the impetus for breaching and bridging the gap between ideal and reality, between habitual and experiential – and genuine and aspirational.
This partial lunar eclipse is going to seriously rock your boat – in order to encourage you to take charge and start paddling in the right direction.
